The whole world is busy watching the duel between and North Korea. The creation of Allah that calls itself ‘humans’ is caught up in his own selfish needs and desires. The are lost in their palatial homes and living in splendor. The are worried about their own hardships, unable to ensure the next meal. In all this, on our personal fronts, are we aware of what is happening to the people in other parts of the world?

On one side there is the Tropical Storm Harvey wreaking havoc. On the other side there is the ‘largest wildfire in city history’ in Los Angeles. The unaccounted in attacks around the world in different countries, for various reasons go unseen or unattended. In this, unending list of catastrophes of the world are the brutal attacks and merciless killing of the ethnic group of Myanmar, the Rohingya and the persecution of Palestinians at the hands of the Israelis.

I am not going to talk about just the Rohingyas or the Palestinians. I am going to express about each that is lost. I am here to share my thoughts about every human who is killed. Killed for belonging to a particular religion, killed for being born in a particular country, killed for migrating, killed for being at the wrong place, killed for being……… HUMAN.

Allah says in , “… Whosoever kills an innocent human being, it shall be as if he has killed all mankind, and whosoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind. . .” ( 5:32)

“Whoever takes a human life shall surely be put to ” (Lev 24:17)

The Ten Commandments said, “Thou shalt not kill.”

Yet, the world is inhabited by people who kill in the name of God.

Has power made you so blind that you cannot see the right from wrong?

Holding a weapon, do you think you are the strongest being?

Have you forgotten about the day of Judgement?

Have you forgotten what you have been instructed to do by your Books and Scriptures?

Why have you become so inhuman?

Has the warmth of your hearts gone away?

Has the heart forgotten to feel? How is it that you cannot feel the pain?

Undoubtedly, Allah hasn’t created us without those feelings.

Indeed Allah has created the human in the best of forms. (Surah Teen, verse 4)

Then, how is it that we don’t feel the pain of the hundreds and thousands who are killed around us?

Why is it that we are happy in our lives, while the Ummah or Humanity is suffering everywhere?

Why doesn’t a tear fall from our eye when we see the cruelties endured by our brothers and sisters?

Why??

Are we incapable of being humans and include the troubled souls in our prayers? Are we not able enough to donate? Can’t we make an effort to collect donations and look for mediums through which our little help could reach the needy? It doesn’t need a lot to do this. Believe me, it needs determination, care and the desire to do good, and indeed Allah will make ways for us.

Don’t think you are too small or young; too old or helpless; too scared or disinterested. It can be done by us, as we are humans. We are the fortunate ones who are untouched by the pains and the trauma that has become a routine or a part of life for others. So take it up as a chance to ask and collect donations; to reach out with the help of volunteers and distribute the money to the needy people around!

A poem I recently read comes into my mind as I write this. Here is how it goes:

The Cold Within

By James Patrick Kinney

Six humans trapped by happenstance
In bleak and bitter cold.
Each one possessed a stick of wood
Or so the story’s told.

Their dying fire in need of logs
The first man held his back
For of the faces round the fire
He noticed one was black.

The next man looking ‘cross the way
Saw one not of his church
And couldn’t bring himself to give
The fire his stick of birch.

The third one sat in tattered clothes.
He gave his coat a hitch.
Why should his log be put to use
To warm the idle rich?

The rich man just sat back and thought
Of the wealth he had in store
And how to keep what he had earned
From the lazy shiftless poor.

The black man’s face bespoke revenge
As the fire passed from his sight.
For all he saw in his stick of wood
Was a chance to spite the white.

The last man of this forlorn group
Did nought except for gain.
Giving only to those who gave
Was how he played the game.

Their logs held tight in death’s still hands
Was proof of human sin.
They didn’t die from the cold without
They died from the cold within.

Please people, wake up before it’s too late. Rekindle the warmth in your hearts before the cold within us kills us. Rejuvenate the Human side of yours before humanity dies. Please before the world becomes uninhabitable for humans to live. Please.

Please!
